Io looked out of the window of the highest tower, where his room was, a few
minutes after they broke the news for him. The stars were bright that night, he
thought, maybe they meant something good. Apparently, he was going to get
married. Well, it was not that he didn't expected it to happen sooner or later,
being the next in the line for the throne. But, he expected it to happen when
he was 25 or something, not when he was only seventeen years old. Io also
expected to have time to meet the one he was going to marry before the actual
ceremony.
The one who was going to be his fiancé was a man as well. Although this kind of
union was unusual, they happened when both of the lines didn't have any female
candidates. He had no sisters of his own and the other prince didn't have any
siblings either. The prince Ryuu Zao was the one he was destined to and he
would arrive tomorrow, one day before their actual marriage. He knew why the
rush and understood it.
The four kingdoms were menaced by an alliance between three countries in far
northwest and they had to unite in the best way they could and use their
resources carefully. He already had contracts with the north and west kingdoms,
that were now united due to the marriage of their princes. His own kingdom was
known for its vast lands and minerals and a union with the masters of forging
on the south kingdom would give them the upper hand when the shadow of war
decided to take form.
Desperate times, desperate measures, he thought to himself, as he got ready for
bed. He honestly didn't feel like consuming the marriage with the prince nor
getting any actual intimacy. He wondered how the other looked and what he liked
as well. The fright of getting into a terrible marriage haunted his dreams that
night. He wondered if the other would sleep with him, in that bed, or if they'd
just ignore each other as the days went by. In the end, Io wasn't in his best
shape when he woke up.
Breakfast was uneventful and Io's parents, king and queen of the East Kingdom,
were laughing in good nature. Of course they were, Io thought, maybe a bit too
bitterfully, they managed to get married with someone they loved. It was no
good to get angry with his parents at that point, considering his duty to his
kingdom, to the people that he held dearly in his heart.
He enjoyed the last minutes before meeting his fiancé in the library, his face
buried in accountancy books. Io was proud of his knowledge at that area and how
his economy was prosperous, after all. When a servant came to tell him that the
caravan from the south kingdom arrived, he slowly made his way out of his
favorite room in the castle and followed to the entrance.
The moment when his eyes meet the prince, he was stunned. The people in the
room seemed to fade for a few seconds and he could only focus on that beauty in
the middle of the saloon. Io didn't expect him to be so beautiful, skin fair
and bright pink hair and eyes that shone like fire was within them. He seemed
to be fierce, but the blush on his face gave away how nervous he was as well.
His arms were crossed and he wore his crown, looking over as the servants got
the presents that his family sent along with him. His parents were going to be
there in the next day, as it seemed.
He was like diamond in an empty room and Io didn't notice that he was making
his way to him, maybe a bit too fast, until he was a few feet away from the
prince. He bowed to the other politely and the other repeated the gesture. Both
of them stared at each other for a few seconds, Ryuu's blush growing even
brighter as Io bit the inside of his cheek. How to break the silence? With
practiced introductions, Io decided.
“I'm Io Naruko. Prince of the East. Nice to meet you.” he put his business grin
on his face and the other tried to give him a nervous smile.
“I'm Ryuu Zao. Prince of the South. Nice to meet you as well.” the other
uncrossed his arms and Io looked at it as a good thing. Maybe he could even
warm up to him, at the end.
“The lunch will be served soon. Shall we go, my Prince?” he offered his arm to
the other, that took it a bit awkwardly.
Ryuu was warm against his skin as well. His blush was slowly subduing and he
curiously eyed the decorations around the castle, while they made their way
into the large dining room. His parents looked at them expectantly and Io made
their way to the table and helped the other sitting on it, making his way to
the other side so he could face Ryuu during dinner. He didn't know what else to
say at this point and wondered what he could do to change that.
Luckily for him, Ryuu wasn't the shy type and started a conversation with his
parents about the travel. It wasn't too hard on him after all, since the
weather these days had been unusually good. His fair skin really wasn't suited
for much sun, Io mused to himself as he looked at the other boy, maybe not so
innocently wondered if the rest of his skin was that clear. Well, now he was
blushing, as he tried to keep his eyes on his plate and eat the delicious meat.
“Hopefully, the weather will still be good tomorrow and my parents will arrive
earlier than scheduled. The ceremony will be held at the dusk, won't it?”
“Yes, my son. The dusk of tomorrow, exactly.” his father smiled sheepishly at
Ryuu and Io noticed how natural this whole thing was.
Soon, Ryuu would be part of that family as well. He laughed and smiled in such
a carefree way now that he was more comfortable and Io was bewitched by how
bright the other was. He could nearly see the fire burning deep within the
other soul, warmer than the one in the best forges of his kingdom. He wanted to
know what composed this person, the one that'd soon be his.
Soon lunch was over and he barely managed to exchange more than a few words
with Ryuu that retired to the room he was going to stay the night before the
ceremony, then he'd move with Io in his tower. They wouldn't see each other
till dinner, what gave him enough time to sit down and try to think this whole
thing out. The blow of the other's appearance and general good spirit gave him
hope.
Then he'd get to the hardest part: To try or not to try pursuing an actual
romance with the other prince. They could pass as friends, yes, but for some
reason, he wanted that alluring person to look at him with love, he wanted to
be able to look at the other with love as well. It didn't take him long until
he realized he was staring at Ryuu during dinner, not actually exchanging words
with him.
“What did you like to do where you lived?” Io blurted out and Ryu shot him a
glance, before smiling brightly. He noticed how rude he might have been
earlier, but the prince of south didn't mind him.
“The thing I enjoyed the most was the art of our people, so I used to be around
public theaters a lot. I had to use a disguise sometimes.” he giggled. “I like
to say that I enjoy pretty things. Art, in general, and I like cultural
subjects as well.”
“Interesting. Being a number person I've never had a good eye for those, as
much as they intrigued me. I'd be honored to visit one of those theaters with
you.”
“Really?” Ryuu's eyes had recovered their initial bright, like a fireplace, and
Io didn't notice that he had leaned forward. “Oh, you're honestly going to love
those! There's a beautiful public park with gardens where artists expose their
paintings. It's my favorite place there.”
“You sound pretty excited about it.” the smile was in his face before he could
stop it and he didn't regret it at all.
“Yes. I am usually like this, I'm sorry.” he looked down to his lap, starting
to shy away from him.
“No, no, don't be sorry. It's good to be excited about the things you enjoy.
I... I get really excited about finances.”
“That's a good hobby you got there. The stuff my parents wished I would like.”
he rolled his eyes.
“What about we make a deal? You use your wonderful eye for art and I deal with
the finances. How does it sound?” he offered it and Ryuu lit up again, while
refilling his plate. Apparently, his future husband had a great appetite.
“Awesome. You're a nice person, Io.” he laughed a bit, before starting to eat
again.
“And you're alluring, Ryuu.” Io said, before he finished his cup and noticed
how red the other was after the comment.
The dinner didn't last long enough, he decided, after retiring to his room. But
he wasn't tired, not yet. Ryuu kept running through his head, with his blushing
face and smile and a need to hold him came over Io. He was happy that this need
didn't kick in before or he'd have hugged the pink eyed prince in the dining
room. The hours kept passing and he decided to go around for a walk, instead of
rolling around the bed. Ironically, the first thing he found was a lost Ryuu,
in his pajamas.
“Oh, hey there… I was just going back to my room!” he tried to explain and Io
laughed.
“You know, your room is actually in the other tower…”
“Ok, ok, I’m lost. Can you show me the way to the kitchen? I want some water.”
He threw his hands up.
“No problem, Ryuu. I was going there myself.” he smiled and followed down the
stairs, making a few turns until he reached the kitchen, giving him some
instructions about how to navigate the place, being followed by Ryuu. After
pouring two glasses of water for them, he decided to give him a tour through
the yard.
“Thanks a ton, Io. I was really lost back there.”
“Hey… If you can’t sleep, do you want to know our garden?” he suggested and the
other’s eyes widened.
“There’s a garden here? You bet I wanna go there. Let’s go then, guide the
way.” the way he flared up at the suggestion made Io feel pumped as well.
When they reached it, Ryuu’s reaction was priceless. Io wondered if he was
going to start jumping around. Instead, he grabbed his hand and pulled them
over the giant fountain they had around there. The pink eyed teen glanced at
him, excitement plain on his features, before his face fell and he looked down,
sitting near the edge of the fountain.
“Why do you do it?” Io asked, sitting by the other’s side and not letting go of
his hand.
“Do what?”
“Stop yourself when you’re getting excited. I love to see it. Your eyes start
shining and your smile grows even bigger.”
“Dad told me it’s bad. That I would annoy you.” he still looked down, but Io
lightly touched his chin.
“You can never annoy me. It’s beautiful really. Let’s make another deal. You
don’t need to hold back near me and I promise I’ll never be annoyed.”
“Really?” the fact that he smiled put Io’s heart at ease. “You’re so much
better than I imagined.” Ryuu reached out to hug Io, but it ended up making
both of them falling into the fountain. “Oh God, I’m so sorry.”
“Don’t worry.” Io pulled them both out of the water. “I’ll get some towels so
wait here and try to keep warm. I don’t want my fiancé to get a cold.”
As he left, he didn’t notice how red Ryuu’s face was. He grabbed some towels
for them and wondered if he should bring anything else. Io ended up running
back and the first thing he did was wrap a towel around the other’s shoulder
and put one over his hair, drying it. He nearly forgot that he was soaked
himself, but wrapped a towel around his torso, trying to strip himself from the
wet clothing.
“I noticed now… You look adorable with your hair down.” Io said, while taking
the towel away from Ryuu’s face. He chuckled a bit with the other’s reaction,
until he felt a pair of arms wrapping around him and a soft smooch pressed to
his mouth. He barely had time to register or enjoy the kiss before the other
pulled out.
“I really can imagine being your husband.” Ryuu said, as he left the other
there and followed the previous instructions that Io gave him to go back to his
room, leaving the latter there, staring at him as he went.
After a few seconds, that felt like hours, Io moved back to his bedroom, his
mind in complete chaos, trying to put the events of the day in order and his
feelings on check. Finally then, he fell on the bed and fell asleep right away.
His dreams, usually filled with random gibberish, were full of Ryuu’s smiles
and laughter and the kiss they shared and he could only look forward to the
next dusk, where he’d be able to kiss those lips again...

Despite how much he wanted to see Ryuu, the odds weren’t to his favor and after
a very rushed breakfast with Ryuu’s parents and his talking, his fiancé was
snatched away from him. Both of them had to get ready for the ceremony later
and apparently, everyone was determined to keep them from seeing each other
alone. Although he was looking forward to the evening, Io doubted that they’d
have time for anything other than a chat, not even another kiss.
The morning passed by too fast and after lunch he was trying to control his
nervousness, walking around his room, the one that’d soon be shared with the
pink-haired prince that was being prepared in the other tower. Io was wearing
his crown now and the pin with a gem to represent him kingdom was attached to
his clothing.
He wondered, nearly out loud, how Ryuu was in the moment and it distracted him
as the hours passed. When dusk took place, he was following the path to the
garden where the marriage was going to take place. Both of them would come out
from opposite directions and meet at the altar, then recite their vows before
kissing and attending to a long dinner and then being escorted to their room so
they could consummate the wedding.
Just thinking about it could make Io’s heart leap out of his chest, and he had
to go around the library searching for what he should do, something he’d never
considered before. Now, walking the trail to the middle of the garden, he
wondered if he could make it. He wondered if he’d do something wrong and he
felt his hands sweating. When he was a few steps from the altar, he let go of
the breath he didn’t know he was holding and could only marvel at the Ryuu’s
beauty. His clothings were white and pink, in a similar cut to Io’s but instead
of a pin, he had a pink gem in the of a golden necklace.
They kneeled over the giant pillow placed there, Ryuu’s parents and his looking
over them expectantly. They held hands now, and Io scanned Ryuu’s blushing face
and noticed that he was biting his lip. Just knowing both of them were nervous
about it made him feel a bit better, so he squeezed his hand in reassurance. A
tiny grin on the other’s face was enough to make him know it helped. The
ceremonialist looked at them, obviously waiting for Io to recite his vows.
“With this hand, I will lift your sorrows.” he held the other’s hand up and
kissed it, before grabbing the cup in front of them. “Your cup will never be
empty, for I’ll be your wine.” Ryuu took the cup from his hands and sipped it,
before Io took the candle on his hand. “With this candle, I will light your way
in darkness.” he protected the flame from the wind and then reached for the
gold ring. “With this ring, I ask you to be mine.”
“I’m yours, my prince.” Ryuu answered as Io put the ring on his finger and
smiled. Ryuu repeated all the gestures and kissed Io’s hand as he placed the
ring on the finger.
“I’m yours, my prince.” Io repeated what he said before and the ceremonialist
gestured so they could kiss.
It was him that reached for Ryuu this time, his hand on his jaw, fingers softly
caressing it as their lips locked. His other hand was still holding Ryuu’s and
he squeezed it softly. Their noses bumped and none of them could match timing
to do anything other than just brush their lips together. It was enough for
them and for everyone else, it seemed, as clapping erupted and they made their
way to the dining room that was now overflowing.
Their parents invited a lot of people, but even that crowd wouldn’t be able to
finish all the food that was being made at the kitchen. Ryuu sat across the
table from Io, like yesterday, and their looks crossed sometimes and they
smiled at each other. The dinner itself took hours and hours to be done and the
newlyweds had talked about every single important thing to them and about them.
Io was so fascinated and in love with Ryuu that he wanted nothing more than to
slip away with him to their quarters. Ryuu felt the same but they had to wait
dutifully as most of the guests went away so they could be escorted to their
room. Just thinking Io would be able to share the room with the other every
single day gave him goosebumps. As the door closed behind them, he was ready to
start talking when the other managed to shut him up with a kiss.
Their third kiss was more experimental than the others, now that there wasn’t
anyone around. Their noses still bumped so Ryuu tiptoed to help himself, his
arms around Io’s neck. The taller reached for the his thighs, pulling his legs
up so he could wrap them around his torso and he could help the other to keep
closer. His hand wandered near the other’s rear, supple through their clothing.
They ended up stumbling in the bed, letting go of each other laughing. Both
were excited, yes, but they weren’t used to touch each other so casually. When
Io laid on his side and brushed Ryuu’s bangs out of his eyes, they went back to
kissing, more smoothly this time and even using a bit of tongue. Slipping off
their shirts was way easier and less embarrassing them slipping out of their
pants and underwear, but they managed to do it without flinching. Even so, Io
blew off the candle beside their bed and threw the covers over them.
He could feel the other’s hard-on poking his belly and he tried not to laugh
because it tickled. His own hard-on demanded attention so he was slowly turning
breathless, especially when the other palmed him shyly. Ryuu was the other to
make the first move so he reached for the other’s erection as well, using his
thumb to play with the head.
The sound that fell from the other’s lips were enough to make him blush, but he
kept going, biting his own lip so he wouldn’t let any sounds escape. Sadly for
him, he ended up moaning as well, so he reached closer and kissed the other to
prevent further embarrassment. The other was so skillful with his hand though,
and he was barely keeping it together.
Io didn’t want to be the first to cum, especially after such a short time. But
he wanted to make the other feel even better, so his lips abandoned the other’s
mouth, that whined at the loss. Io started leaving kisses on his jaw and below
his ears, sucking spots on the skin softly. His thumb grazed the head of the
other’s dick and a loud moan left Ryuu’s mouth.
“Io…” the prince of the east felt his face heating up and another flick of the
smaller’s wrist got him off first.
“Ryuu!” he groaned a bit too loud and speed up his hand, making the other come
as well. His breathing was slowly evening now and Io sighed, reaching out for
hand towels near the bed to clean them up. He kissed the other softly before
slipping his arms around his waist and letting sleep take over them.
When he woke up next morning, his bed was still arm and an angel slept on his
arms, snoring quite loudly. He smiled despite that, appreciating the view and
wondering how he’d gotten so lucky. Io ran his fingers through the other’s
hair, now without crowds or hair ties and it was smooth as he thought. He woke
up the other with a kiss in the forehead and Ryuu squeezed his torso, not
wanting to leave the warm nest of covers.
“Good morning, Ryuu.”
“M-Morning, Io.” he yawned, enjoying how the other felt against him.
“Breakfast?”
“Breakfast, for sure.”

With this hand, I will lift your sorrows. Your cup will never empty, For I will
be your wine. With this candle, I will light your way in darkness. With this
ring, I ask you to be mine.
